Thornton le Dale’s ‘Hall Hustlers’ go for gold in inter care home Olympics

The Hall care home in Thornton le Dale has been crowned the overall winner of Parklane Healthcare's Inter-Home Olympics.

Spanning a three-week period, the competition was held across six of the group’s care homes with residents taking part in a series of Olympic-themed activities, including volleyball, basketball, archery, and many more.

The games began with a vibrant opening ceremony featuring French-themed cuisine, setting the stage for a month full of festivities. Residents at The Hall, who were known as the Hall Hustlers, showed a sustained level of commitment and teamwork, which led them to victory in a variety of events, and ultimately secured the trophy for the home.

Participating homes included Croston Park in Lancashire, Magnolia House in Cottingham, and the Moorgate care village in Rotherham, comprising Moorgate Croft, Moorgate Lodge, and Moorgate Hollow with each home bringing its unique flair to the games.

Claire Lane, marketing and hospitality manager at Parklane Healthcare, said:  "It was wonderful to see everyone come together, not just in our home but across all the participating homes. The spirit of the Olympics truly came alive, and our residents have created memories that will last a lifetime.”

Jill Baldwin, activities and well-being coordinator at The Hall added: “From the opening ceremony right till the end, it’s been such an enjoyable occasion for both the staff and residents, and to be crowned winners was the icing on the cake on what has been a truly magnificent Olympic summer.”
